A356 Aluminium
A356 is the primary cast structural material of the CHRONOS Chair. The studio uses it as both structure and sculpture: an alloy that can carry complex geometry across a continuous span while keeping a strong physical presence in the room.
Where the oak volumes only bear, the aluminium only binds. Casting the connecting vein as one piece asks the alloy to do what fabricated joints cannot: admit no seam.
- A casting alloy that flows into complex geometry and holds it: light for a metal, structurally dependable, and able to carry a continuous form as a single pour.
- Investment cast as a continuous structural form.
- Left as cast metal; surface treatment recorded per specimen.
- Recorded per specimen.
